What a crazy month March has been. We’ve had our normal chilly weather and then the next day it is in the 80’s! I’m not sure what clothes I should be keeping in my closet.
This weather is not what you would expect for a New England state, but it gave us the opportunity to visit some great indoor locations and also visit some wonderful outdoor playgrounds.
Come reminisce with us as we look back on all the places we visited this past month:
#1. A Taste of Spring with a Few Park Visits: Looks like the groundhog was right and spring is just around the corner. We certainly made good use of those beautiful days this month by taking the kids to some of the local parks. Shawna and Boo visited Goodwin Park in Hartford and Addison Park in Glastonbury while I took Sparkles and Bruiser to Wolcott Park in West Hartford.
#2. A Milestone for Bruiser: Bruiser experienced a milestone last month with his first haircut at Snip-Its in Canton. Though he wasn’t the happiest of customers, he did get a cute little cut which I love!
#3. Rainy/Cold Day Fun at Indoor Playscapes: Having an indoor facility where your little one can burn off some energy on those not so nice days can be a major lifesaver. Last month, we found a few indoor playscapes that fit the bill. Shawna took Boo to a birthday party at Bounce Town in South Windsor. Though it took him a little while to warm up, Boo eventually got a huge smile on his face as he soared down one of the huge inflatable slides.
Shawna also took Boo to an indoor facility loaded with outdoor play equipment. This fun place is called Timber Gyms and is located Newington. Not only is this a great place for kids to play, it is also one of the least expensive facilities around at $5 per child for open play.
Lastly on the indoor play list is The Shoppes at Buckland HIlls. Now you may not normally think of a mall as an indoor attraction for kids, but this place has a children’s play area, train rides, a carousel and much more. Definitely a good combination of fun for the kids and retail therapy for the adults!
#4. A Library Class with the Perfect Name: I have to agree with the name of this class at the Glastonbury library . . . One is W-One-derful. Seems like Boo also thought the class was wonderful and I’m sure his mommy loved the price of this activity, FREE!
#5. The Perfect Place for Airplane Enthusiasts: We had a great time visiting one of the museums available through the library museum pass program, the New England Air Museum located in Windsor Locks. Any kid that even remotely likes the world of aviation will love this place.
Wow, we hit up a lot of new places again last month. That was certainly fun and I hope you will stick around to see all of the fun places we visit this month. We’ve got a great lineup for you!
