I don’t know about you, but I’ve started working on a Fall schedule for me and my kiddos. The twins don’t turn 3 until January so they will still be home with me at least for the next few months. With three kids under the age of three hanging out with me every day, we need a plan.
I mean they are cute and all, but this sweet smile doesn’t always accompany their wrestling matches.
First on my list of Fall planning activities is to figure out if we should sign up for any classes.
Realizing that some of our readers may be looking into the exact same thing, I thought it might be helpful to devote this week’s Throwback Thursday to all the fun classes Shawna and I have written about.
Here’s the list of classes we’ve documented. Hope it’s helpful!

We have done tons of classes at the Lutz and will continue with that with my two ‘Littles’. I do the story times at our library for both Littles as well (Manchester, they offer lots of story time options, from pregnancy-1yr, 1-2yr, 2-3yr, 3-5yr, k-2nd, 3-5th, 6th grade book club once a month, 7-12 teen nights 2x a week). For my 2yo we also do Partners In Play. It is through the town of Manchester. They group the kids 1-2yr, 2-3yr, and 2.5 and up. My 6yo took classes there and my 2yo has gone for a regular session and the summer offering. It is wonderful. The woman who teaches it is high energy, includes all the kids and is very personable. It is a stay and play sort of class (parent stays with the child) but it has structure as well. Kids learn to tell the weather, sing the same songs week by week, have free play, a craft, say their goodbye song and get their hand stamped. I really like it because it really introduces the little ones to the idea of structure and ‘school’. My 2yo even asked this week to go to playschool because she was used to it — gotta wait babe!

Ctaci – Thank you (as always) for these great ideas for fall programs! I just looked up the information for the Partners in Play program through the town of Manchester and am going to post the link to their program curriculum in case any of our readers are interested. Sounds like a great program and very reasonably priced. http://recreation.townofmanchester.org/documents/CompleteFall2013RecreationBrochure.pdf

The Hartt School Community Division has several programs for young children starting this fall. One of our most popular classes for young children is First Steps in Music, which is a music and movement class for infants up through age 5. We also have dance classes for kids between 1 and 6 as well, specifically ballet and tap programs in the Toddler and Pre-K program and the Children’s Dance programs. All of these programs run throughout the school year and we also have special summer sessions for them. New students can try the first class for free. Current schedules are posted at http://www.hcd.hartford.edu.
