Fall is my favorite season. I know that technically we still have a few more weeks of summer left, but in my mind, once we’ve passed Labor Day, it’s fall.
One of my favorite fall activities is apple picking, and that’s just what I had wanted to do over the long Labor Day weekend. We were all set to go, and then I had a sudden change of heart. As much as I love the activity, I wasn’t sure if I was ready to tote my 5-week-old out to the orchards on a tractor-pulled wagon where we might be “stuck” waiting for another wagon to bring us back. The more I thought about it, the more I didn’t want to take the gamble that we could need to make a quick exit. I might be braver with my second child, but I’m not crazy 🙂
So instead we decided to head over to Belltown Hill Orchards in Glastonbury and grab some lunch at their outdoor snack bar, The Hungry Harvester. We enjoyed hot dogs and chicken fingers, not to mention onion rings and apple donuts (it was also my birthday–I figured I could indulge a little 🙂 ). Boo got to run around and enjoy the outdoors. And no one really minded if the baby got a little fussy at times (yay for outdoor seating!). We actually meant to purchase some apples to take home with us, but we were having such a good time, we totally forgot!
