For those of you enjoying Spring Break this week, I hope you are having a wonderful time!
Me and my crew have ventured out a bit to enjoy some of our favorite destinations including the Connecticut Science Center, Westmoor Park, and Kidcity.
With the holidays being celebrated this week, we are taking a little blogging break today and therefore not posting a NEW adventure. But fear not, we certainly won’t leave you without some outing inspiration — I threw together a little Throwback Thursday post to fill the void.
Today’s theme came from my Facebook feed which has recently been filled with announcements about destinations opening up or kicking off their Spring and Summer seasons. I thought it would be fun to highlight a few of them and possibly give you ideas for your next adventure.
The Zoo in Forest Park (located in Springfield, Massachusetts) opened their doors for the season last Saturday and will keep them open until the end of November. They were originally scheduled to open on the last day of March, but you might remember that some of us were hit with a few inches of snow that day (ugh!). This zoo is wonderful for children of all ages but its smaller size makes it especially great for really little ones. One new benefit they are offering this year is that members can purchase a seasonal parking pass for $10 (normal costs are $3/$5 per visit).
Wickham Park (located in Manchester, Connecticut) opened for the season the first weekend in April and will remain open until the last weekend in October. There is so much to see and do at this fun destination that we have posted about it more than once! Check out all the details in our posts about the park’s Main Playground, Nature Center, and Aviary, and Sensory Garden, Picnic alAreas (with playgrounds), and Fitness Trail.
The Rock Cats kicked off their 2014 baseball season at the beginning of April as well and you can catch a home game at their stadium in New Britain, Connecticut. Currently they are offering a Thursday night deal which might make for an affordable family outing.
