It was another great month of adventures here at Out and About Mom!

Saturday Morning Storytime
Looking for something to do on a Saturday morning? Then check out the drop-in storytime called Family Stories held at the South Windsor, Connecticut library. The program, which is designed for kids ages 3 and up, is held every Saturday morning at 10:00am (though the schedule changes during the summer months). Go for storytime or just go anytime to check out the library’s great children’s section.
Trucks and Trains
We had a bit of a transportation theme going this month.
Our first stop was a mini train ride out of the Amtrak station in Windsor, Connecticut. We took a trip from Windsor to Hartford and back again then added in a stop at the local bakery. It was a fun morning for my little train enthusiasts.
We continued the train outing theme with (what is becoming) an annual event for the Out and About Mom crew. Shawna and her family attended Day Out with Thomas in Essex, Connecticut last weekend and she posted all the latest details. This coming weekend marks the final one for the event, so be sure to check out her post if you are planning to go.
Then it was on to trucks, cars, bulldozers, firetrucks and a plethora of other transportation vehicles with our listing of touch-a-truck events happening across the state. Check out the full listing or get even more details from our posts on theVehicle Day at the Enfield Public Library (this year’s event will be on June 14, 2014) and the Touch-a-Truck event in Glastonbury (this year on May 31, 2014). If you have a child that is enamored with vehicles, you have to get at least one of these events on your calendar!
Outdoor Fun
This month we also shared with you two fun outdoor activities to enjoy with your little ones.
I took my kids to Fisher Meadows in Avon, Connecticut and we took a walk around the pond and explored all sorts of nature. There were even swings located at the trail entrance which provided some bonus fun for my tykes. Pack your jogging stroller and outdoor gear and check out this pretty destination.
Then Shawna took advantage of a gorgeous April Sunday to check out Pierson Park playground in Cromwell, Connecticut. It was a hit with both her 3-year-old and her 8-month-old! Definitely a place to check out the next time a pretty day rolls around (and hopefully there will be a whole lot of sunny, warm days in our future!)
