Well, our week of celebrating three years of blogging is coming to an end. Mandy has revealed her top outings of the year and I have rounded up my top picks, but we still have one last list of favorites to share with you: yours!
Thank you to all the readers who gave us feedback on their favorite OAAM outings. Some of these come from our very early days of blogging, and some are from just a few months ago. But they all bring back wonderful memories of these fun places we have visited with our families. We are so happy to hear that you have loved them too!
Parks & Playgrounds
This may be our largest category of outings, with more than 30 playgrounds and almost a dozen state & local parks and beaches. One reader singled out Buckingham Park in Glastonbury and River Park Playground in Mystic as favorite playgrounds, while another reader raved about Rocky Neck State Park’s beaches in East Lyme.
Tiny Dining
Did you know we have a whole section of the blog dedicated to family-friendly eateries? From waffles to lobster rolls, our Tiny Diner Series reveals lots of yummy options for a meal out that both you and your kiddos can enjoy. Readers have singled out Abbott’s Lobster in the Rough in Noank, Rose’s Berry Farm’s Breakfast with a View in Glastonbury, and the snack shack at Jessica’s Garden in Marlborough as among their favorites.
Travel Adventures
Don’t discount simple adventures! Readers have mentioned how much they enjoyed a Mini Amtrak Train Ride and an Adventure on the City Bus. And we have plenty of ideas for day trips too.
Events
Although most of our posts are about activities and destinations of a more permanent nature, we have also stumbled across some wonderful seasonal events. One reader has been enjoying FREE summer movies in Hartford, and we have to agree with readers who think that ice cream and the Fall Festival at Robb’s Farm in Glastonbury and the Florence Griswold Museum’s Wee Faerie Village in Old Lyme are reason enough to look forward to fall!
Children’s Classes
Sometimes a structured activity is just what you need! And we have tons of suggestions for great children’s classes. One reader mentioned that she is excited to try the drop-in art classes for kids at the New Britain Museum of American Art. That is one of my favorites too!
Thank you again to all our readers who weighed in with their favorites. We always love to know what you are enjoying these days. Even if you didn’t have a chance to let us know prior to this post, we’d still love to hear from you. Leave a comment on this post and tell us which outing from our site is your favorite!
