With over a foot of snow still on the ground, it’s hard to believe that Easter will be here in just a few weeks!
But with the warmer temperatures we are experiencing and the rain in our forecast, the snow should be gone very soon. While you wait for it to melt, why not start thinking about the beautiful spring days in our (hopefully) not-too-distant future by planning some Easter fun for you and your family!
Below is a list of some great Easter events happening in our state. Take a look at the list and get ready to plan a few fun family outings!
Easter Egg Hunt Eggs-travaganza & Bunny Breakfast
March 28th and 31st
Times vary
Reservations for the Bunny Breakfast must be made in advance at the store’s customer service desk. The Easter Egg Hunt is FREE.
Stew Leonard’s in Newington
3475 Berlin Turnpike, Newington, Connecticut
On Saturday, March 28th, families can enjoy a special breakfast with the Easter Bunny and his friends at Stew Leonard’s in Newington. Families can then return on March 31st for a FREE Easter Egg Hunt for ages 8 and under. During the Easter Egg Hunt, children can collect eggs from costumed characters located inside the store and have a chance to win the grand prize — a $200 gift card to Toys R Us! For the breakfast there will be two seating times available: 9:00 am and 10:30 am. This store will also be having Easter-themed cooking classes beginning March 24th. Check out our post and Better Connecticut segment on the Stew Leondard’s cooking classes for information on this great activity.
Is there another Stew Leonard’s located closer to you? Then check out the pages for Yonkers, Danbury, and Norwalk for information on their Easter events.

Our kids always enjoy the trolley ride at this unique Connecticut destination. There will be plenty to keep the kids entertained including visiting with the Easter Bunny, crafts, face painting, tattoos, a train table and more. Each child will receive an Easter egg containing a small prize. While we haven’t been to the Easter event, in the past we have visited this destination for other events including the ride to the pumpkin patch and Winterfest.

Easter Apple Hunt
Saturday, March 28th (rain date April 4th) RESCHEDULED TO Saturday, April 18th (rain date April 19th)
Starts at 10:30 am
Tickets must be purchased in advance
Lyman Orchards
32 Reeds Gap Road, Middlefield, Connecticut
My family and I (and some great friends) attended this event for the first time last year and had such a wonderful time. Instead of the traditional, Easter “Egg” Hunt, Lyman Orchards puts their own twist on it with a hunt for apples instead. Bring your own basket or get a bag there and the kids will gather as many apples as they can find. The apples are edible and can be taken home or some contain a sticker and you can turn those in for specific prizes (including tickets to their fall corn maze). While there, you can visit with the Easter bunny or see a magic show. Pony rides and horse-drawn carriage rides are also available for an additional fee. The cost for the apple hunt is $6 for each participating child and that includes a cute t shirt.

Jack & Allie’s Bookstore
520 Hartford Turnpike, Vernon, Connecticut
One of our new favorite bookstores will be hosting a fun bunny-themed event at the end of the month. The store’s owner is friends with a local farmer who raises bunnies and will have a variety of them available at the store that day. Kids can observe the bunnies in action or even get a chance to hold one! A cute bunny-themed craft and other activities will also be available.

Whose Egg Is It? Egg Hunt
April 4th
11:00 am to 12:30 pm
Contact the park at 860.285.1886 to reserve your spot for this event.
Northwest Park
145 Lang Road, Windsor, Connecticut
I’m hoping to make it to this event this year because I have heard so many wonderful things about it from a good friend of mine. Northwest Park is a beautiful destination itself with amazing views and activities for the kids including a playground, nature center, and animal barns. But for just $3.00 per person, you can check out this wonderful park and enjoy a unique Easter Egg Hunt at the same time. Call ahead to reserve your spot for the event and then pay for it at the Nature Center when you arrive. An Easter bunny will be available to visit with the children and then groups are led from the Nature Center on a short hike on one of the park’s nature trails. There the children can find a few plastic eggs containing prizes and are asked to locate and collect one replica egg. Then back at the nature center, the children can enjoy their prizes and try to find the correct bird’s nest for their replica egg. A great opportunity for a fun educational experience.
