Please note: This post was written in 2020, and while it should still give you a good overview of the experience, it may also contain some outdated information. Please be sure to visit Fun In’s website for the most current information, especially about things like hours & pricing.
Please also note that the inside areas have been reorganized somewhat and at the time of our last visit (summer 2022) the toddler play area had been moved to where the arcade games were previously located (as shown in the 2020 post).
2020 Post:
There’s a new trampoline park in Middletown, CT. Have you heard? I actually got the tip from Tiffany several months ago, but over the winter break we finally had a chance to check it out!
Fun In is conveniently located on South Main Street in Middletown.
When we visited, there wasn’t a sign for Fun In out by the street (that may change by the time you read this), but here’s the sign for the plaza in which it’s located.
And here’s Fun In, way back in the corner.
You can plan ahead and fill out a waiver online. Or you can fill one out when you arrive at the waiver station.
You’ll definitely want to fill out a waiver before you buy your tickets because admission is sold in increments of time and the clock starts as soon as you purchase your tickets. How does that work? You might ask. Well, every participant gets a sticker with their name and their end time printed on it. Then announcements are made at regular intervals to remind patrons when time is up. As a parent, I actually love this system because it makes it really easy to get my kids to leave. No arguing, no whining (okay, maybe there is still a little whining). Time is up! Nothing I can do about it (wink, wink).
At the front desk you can 1-Pay your admission, 2-Buy your jump socks, and 3-(this is very important!) Pay for a locker rental if you want one. Don’t forget that if you need a locker! Otherwise you’re back in line again. Oof.
There are also plenty of open cubbies, so locker rental is certainly not mandatory.
Here’s a rare sight: Little Miss waiting patiently. LOL.
Socks on! Stuff stowed! Ready to go!
The first area you’ll notice is the toddler area. No shoes are allowed in the toddler area (spectators are allowed to wear their shoes walking around in the main play area). I really love this little toddler section! It has so many things to keep tiny tots busy.
Unfortunately, there is no section of the trampolines that is permanently dedicated to toddlers (they are permitted to jump with everyone else, however), but the good new is that Fun In has special toddler times twice a week when the whole place is toddlers only! Can’t beat that 🙂
Tip for parents playing zone defense with multiple kids: you can’t see the entire park from the toddler area, but you can definitely keep an eye on kids in the playscape and peek out to the main trampoline area too. It’s nice to have everything so close together if you’re flying solo!
Adjacent to the toddler area is one of the most ginormous indoor playscapes we’ve seen to date!
It’s got multiple structures to climb up, slides to go down, tubes to climb through, obstacles to explore and a network of enclosed walk(run?)ways so you can feel comfortable letting your kiddos explore all three (three!) levels.
Do note that this playscape is for kids ages 12 and under only. So adults are not allowed to enter. From what I could observe from the ground, it looked like most of the activities inside would be appropriate for small children (age 3+). But younger kids are certainly allowed to play. I will say that there is one huge, very steep slide in there (kids love it!), but you will need to make a call on whether your little one is ready to go solo and possibly encounter this slide.
Personally, I didn’t feel that my 2-year-old could be trusted up in that giant playscape on her own. Fortunately, Little Miss got some assistance from her big brothers who helped guide her to the age-appropriate features for her.
Set slightly above this level with the toddler area and large playscape is the trampoline floor and the ninja obstacle course.
One area we didn’t get to explore is the virtual reality room. There are many different kinds of games in here, and pricing for these activities is separate from the general admission cost.
While there is no food for sale, outside snacks are welcome in the designated eating areas (no food or drinks allowed in the play areas). There are a few tables near the cubbies/lockers.
There is also an upstairs loft area with more tables. This is also where I got that bird’s eye view!
No post would be complete without the 411 on the restrooms 🙂
There are restrooms downstairs, just beyond the table area near the front of the building. These have changing stations in both the men’s and the women’s rooms.
And also upstairs (though I did not see a changing station in the women’s room up there).
Now, I’m not going to lie. This was not an inexpensive outing. It was around $60 for 4 out of 5 of us to jump, and that doesn’t include the sock purchase (which, fortunately, is a one-time thing since they are reusable).
But as a mom of three kids ranging in age from 2 to 9, I know it is rare to find an activity where all the ages can have an equally good time. Fun In fits the bill!
An hour of playtime proved to be plenty, and afterwards we just walked our tired and hungry crew across the parking lot to the nearby Denny’s restaurant for a stress-free (and surprisingly quiet) lunch.
I hope you get a chance to check out Fun In soon too!
