2021 Post:
I’m so lucky to have so many friends who love getting out and about! Today I’ve got another post courtesy of a Facebook stalking session (I’m getting really good at that!) and my generous friend, Lauren 🙂
She recently told me about her family’s outing to Powder Ridge for their snow tubing experience, and I just knew that would be the kind of thing that readers in the middle of Pandemic Winter 2021 would be all over.
Powder Ridge Park is located in Middlefield, CT (no too far from Lyman Orchards–another one of our favorite destinations!).
Snow tubing is just what it sounds like. Grab a giant tube, head up the hill, and glide down like the childhood sledding fantasies of your dreams!
This activity is as beloved by grownups as it is by children And everyone can participate! Don’t you just love outings where we get to have as much fun as our kiddos?!
Of course, Powder Ridge also offers other snow sports like skiing and snowboarding, but there’s no previous skill (or lessons) required for a trip down the mountain in a tube! So not only is this a fun, low key outing for your family, but a great way to check out the other activities offered at Power Ridge and maybe make plans for a return visit 😉
A few things to know about snow tubing at Powder Ridge:
- Advance reservations are strongly recommended as these timed sessions do sell out, especially right now when participants are limited due to the pandemic situation. Lauren mentioned making her reservations a few weeks in advance! You can buy tickets online here.
- Pricing is $33/ticket–weekday tubing; $37/ticket–weekend tubing; $39/ticket–Interstellar Tubing (night time tubing under glowing lights!)
- Tubing passes are non-refundable and all sales are final; provide at least 48 hours notice to reschedule.
- Access to snow tubing area only.
- Sessions are 1 hour and 45 minutes long. You reserve a time slot, so you can tube only during your allotted time slot (take care of those food and bathroom breaks first!).
- Each person participating needs to use a separate tube (no riding together). Each child must be old enough to be in their own tube.
- No gear needed! Tubes and helmets (which are required) are provided for you–but you can also bring your own helmet if you prefer.
- You will need to fill out a waiver to participate; this can be done online here.
- Face Coverings will be required at the resort at all times when indoors or on mountain. See all of their COVID-19 social distancing guidelines here.
- Check their hours page for the most current opening information.
Now for some more photos!
Doesn’t that look fun?!
Powder Ridge also has a lodge where you can warm up, relax for a bit, and/or purchase food or snacks and beverages in The Marketplace.
Now don’t forget to make those advance reservations! Seriously. Go now. We’ll wait.
If you do head to Powder Ridge for tubing (or anything else!) with your crew, we’d love to know how it went! Feel free to leave us a comment below with your thoughts on the experience–and any tips you may have to share! Now more than ever, it takes a village 🙂
Stay safe out there 😉
