Spray Parks are a toddler mom’s best friend! Often FREE to visit, these tot-friendly spots offer all the cool down potential of a swim without the stress that accompanies taking your non-swimmers to a pool, pond or any other body of water deeper than your backyard baby pool.
So today we’re rating our favorite hot spots for cooling down. Check out our picks for the best Spray Parks in (and around) CT!
Best for… Energy Burning
The splash pad at Rockwell Park in Bristol neighbors a playscape, so you can make this a two for one outing (which hopefully translates to good afternoon nap!).
Best for… Tiny Tots
The splash pad at Watrous Park in Cromwell is perfectly pint-sized, with plenty of benches offering a good view of all the action.
Best for… Escape Artists
If you’ve got a runner, you’ll love the fully fenced-in splash pad at The RecPlex in Colchester. Once they are in that gate, you can relax and enjoy the cool down as well! UPDATE 6-29-23: We have been informed that this splash pad is currently closed for repairs. If you have any updates on when it should be open again, please let us know by leaving a comment below.
Best for… Families with Older Kids Too
The enormous School Street Spray Park in Agawam, MA offers enough liquid entertainment to keep even your big kids occupied!
Best for… Playdates and Zone Defense
The splash pad at Wolcott Park in West Hartford is fully fenced-in and so is the neighboring playground, making it perfect for playdates since parents can supervise and socialize while the kiddos play. All that fenced-in fun also makes this destination a great choice when you have multiple kiddos in tow (but only one supervising adult!).
