2021 Post:
One of my family’s favorite summer outings is to scope out a new-to-us mini golf course. We’ve been to quite a few over the years. We’ve putted around Switzerland at Matterhorn Mini Golf in Canton. We’ve mingled with (pretend) wild animals at Safari Golf in Berlin. We’ve relished the shady quiet (and delicious outdoor restaurant) at Hidden Valley Mini Golf in Southington. But one place on our perennial to-go list has always been Farmington Mini Golf. In years past we have frequently featured their Haunted Mini Golf among our favorite Halloween activities (Tiffany even braved that outing one year!), but we’d never been there to check out the everyday offerings. So a few weeks ago we piled ourselves in the car and headed that way.
Farmington Mini Golf is a beautiful, well-kept course with all the quintessential mini-golf must-haves–a spinning windmill, bridges, water traps. It is also peppered throughout with lovingly-tended garden beds. This is not a sprawling course, and that has some advantages! For one thing, it’s easy to break up into smaller groups to keep play moving faster (and keep attention spans from dwindling) without losing sight of everyone in your crew.
The kids had a great time playing golf, but if you ask them, the main event was probably the ice cream!
There is seating on the porch and also behind the ice cream parlor, which is also where they hold birthday parties.
We had a lovely time at Farmington Miniature Golf–so glad we finally made the trip–and we look forward to making more family memories there soon!
