Over the years, we have noticed a trend while visiting dozens of family-friendly destinations. Often, places like museums and nature centers, parks and zoos, will offer kid-friendly scavenger hunt activities for visitors to use while they explore. It didn’t take long for us to fully understand and appreciate the genius of this idea! It really makes everything so much more entertaining and engaging for our kids when they have a specific task!
So we thought, why not try our own hand at a DIY version for one of our own adventures?
With the help of my super talented 11-year-old son (and an amazing app called Sketches School that he adores), we’ve created a Nature Walk Scavenger Hunt that you can download, print and take with you on your next outdoor adventure. Just accessorize with a clipboard and a writing utensil and off you go!

Whether it be a stroll on the Cheney Rail Trail in Manchester, wandering around Earle Park in Glastonbury, hiking through Devil’s Hopyard in East Haddam, or one of the other dozens of trails and parks we’ve blogged about–or your family’s own favorite hiking spot–we hope this fun game makes getting “out and about” outdoors even more enjoyable!
