2022 Post:
We had such a great time at Foster Farm a couple weekends ago, that I thought maybe I would just continue to stalk Mandy’s old haunts from back in the day 🙂
So we decided to check out Brown’s Harvest in Windsor, CT–another destination that Mandy first discovered for our blog almost a decade ago!
A wristband gives you access to just about all the activities, and Brown’s Harvest offers an enormous variety of them. Here are the ones we encountered (although there may certainly be more that we missed!):
- Hayride
- Tractor-pulled barrel train ride (this was an extra fee)
- Small kids play area and play maze
- Large kids playground area
- Spookly the Square Pumpkin story walk
- Toy tractor race track
- Chicken coop
- Barn with indoor swings, tunnel play area and other activities
- Inflatable bounce pad
- Face painting (this was an extra fee)
- Lawn games (giant Connect 4, corn hole, etc.)
- Giant corn maze (5 acres!)
- Pumpkin patch (need to pay separately for pumpkins)
- Snack bar and store; food truck (obviously, you still need to pay for this stuff!)
- Live music (at designated times)
We decided we’d start with the main attractions (hayride and corn maze) and then explore the rest of the farm. There was a bit of a line for the hayride when we got there, so my husband stood in the line while the kids ran around in the little play area right next to the the line (genius placement!). There are some small play structures, and also a play maze. The area is fenced off, but be aware that your kids can enter the maze from the back of the play area 🙂
The hayride runs about every 20 minutes (and the ride itself is about that long as well). There are multiple carts going, so the wait isn’t long at all. I don’t even think we had to wait a full 20 minutes.
The hayride ferries you across the property, past all the festive activities and through a magical wood where you’ll encounter many mythical creatures!
After the hayride, we headed for the corn maze.
We definitely spent over 30 minutes in the maze, but that was because we wanted to find all the clues and that required walking down additional paths, backtracking, wandering around in clearings, etc. If you just wanted to use the map to walk through the maze, I think you could do it quicker.
Hayride complete and corn maze conquered, we had some time left to wander around and take in some of the other activities. There are several play areas, which are included with the price of admission.
We also saw a face-painting booth, another little ride on a tractor-pulled barrel train, and a pumpkin patch with tons to pick from (these activities are an additional cost).
There’s a snack bar with some quick meal options, baked goodies and hot cider, and a little store as well. There was also a food truck there when we visited (not sure if that is every weekend).
We spent at least 2 hours at Brown’s Harvest. We totally could have hung out for much longer while the kids ran around the play area (and we actually got to sit still at a picnic table enjoying hot cider for a change!), but the farm was closing so you know what they say, you don’t have to go home but you can’t stay here LOL
I don’t know why it has taken me so long to check out these fall farm destinations (we visited Foster Farm recently too) with my own family, but I’m sure thankful to Mandy for introducing me to them all those year ago. And now I hope to do the same for your family. So bundle up and head out for some quintessential New England fall fun while supporting our wonderful local businesses and ensuring that destinations like this will still be available for CT families to enjoy for decades to come 🙂

Details:
Stroller Friendly: YES! This corn maze was surprisingly stroller-friendly, with wide paths and not many obstacles–like rocks and roots–under foot. We even saw someone pushing a stroller through, and it didn’t look difficult at all 🙂 The rest of the areas are also wide open and stroller-friendly. You cannot take the stroller on the hayride (probably didn’t need to tell you that, huh?), but there is a little area nearby where people parked their strollers.
Restroom: Porta-potties are located throughout.
Baby Changing Area: NO
Parking: YES, plenty of parking in a large field very close to the activities.
Food for Sale: There is a snack shack offering small meal and snack items. The day we visited, there was a food truck as well.
Outside Food Allowed: NO.
Cash Required: Brown’s accepts credit cards for general admission and at the snack bar/store, but you might need cash for some of the “extra” activities.
Dress Code: Closed-toe shoes for the mazes (or rubber boots are always a good choice if it’s rained lately). Be sure to choose shoes you won’t mind getting a little dirty. The maze can kick up a lot of dirt and dust. Also, socks are required for the jump pad.
Age Recommendation: All ages!
Birthday Party Venue: YES. Find more information HERE.

I am enjoying this likely-soon-to-be-series of visiting locations from the beginning of the blog! I actually have a large corn maze and farm near me, but with not nearly as many things to do. It of course doesn’t stop me from having fun! I’m always excited when a new post comes out, it just has so much useful information. Hope you have even more fall fun!
